What Are All-on-6 Dental Implants?

All-on-6 dental implants replace a full jaw of missing teeth with a fixed bridge anchored on six implants. The two extra implants, compared with All-on-4, spread the force of biting more evenly and give the bridge more support across the jaw.

You’ll also see it written all on 6. Like its four-implant cousin, it’s a type of dental implants in Turkey that gives you a fixed set of teeth in place of a whole arch, rather than one implant per tooth.

Six implants mean six points of support. That’s why All-on-6 suits people with a strong bite, or anyone who wants the extra stability of more anchor points holding the bridge in place.

Most people leave with a fixed temporary bridge on the same day. The permanent bridge is fitted on a second visit, once the implants have fused with the jawbone over the following months.

How it works

How All-on-6 Works

A full arch of teeth is fixed to six implants spread along the jaw.

  1. Six implants

Titanium implants spread along the jaw to share the biting force.

  2. One fixed bridge

A full arch of teeth, fixed to the implants. It stays in and is not taken out at night.

  3. Gum-coloured base

Replaces lost gum so the new teeth look natural where they meet the gum.

The Details

  1. Texture

Natural enamel has fine ridges and lobes that scatter light. We build that micro-texture into every crown, so the smile looks alive in daylight and on camera, never flat.

  2. Gum Line

The best smiles show just 1 to 2mm of gum. We set each tooth length and the gum arch (the zenith) over every tooth, so you show the right amount, not a gummy smile.

  3. Translucency

Real teeth let light through at the tips. Our layered zirconia copies that incisal translucency, so the edges glow softly instead of looking like a solid white block.

  4. Proportion

Front teeth about four-fifths as wide as they are long, the laterals a touch smaller, the canines matching the centrals, all chosen to suit your face shape.

  5. Shade

Matched to your skin tone and the whites of your eyes, with a natural gradient from a brighter edge to a warmer gum end. Bright, but believable.

  6. Smile Line

The top edges follow the curve of your lower lip. Widening the arch slightly fills the dark corners (the buccal corridor) for a fuller, better proportioned smile.

  7. Bite

Your occlusion, how the top and bottom teeth meet, is balanced too. An even bite spreads the load across the implants and the teeth on top, protects them from chipping, eases jaw strain and keeps eating and talking comfortable.

How a fixed full arch works

All-on-4 or All-on-6: where the implants go

A full arch of fixed teeth does not need an implant for every tooth. Four or six implants, placed where the bone is strongest, carry a single zirconia bridge. Tap to compare.

Upper arch seen from below, not to scale. Cyan dots are implants; the tinted band is the fixed zirconia bridge.

All-on-6

Two extra implants further back spread the biting force over six points instead of four. That means a longer bridge with more back teeth, less strain on each implant, and more margin if one ever needed attention.

Which one is right for you comes from your CT scan, not a brochure. The 3D scan on Day 2 shows how much bone you have at the back of each jaw and where the sinus and the nerve sit. Plenty of bone further back and a strong bite point to All-on-6; less bone at the back, or a wish to avoid grafting, points to All-on-4 with its angled implants. The surgeon talks you through it before anything is decided.

Cost Comparison (Turkey vs UK)

All-on-6 dental implants typically cost from £3,400 per jaw in Turkey, a little more than All-on-4, against roughly £10,000 to £18,000 in the UK. Even with both jaws done, the total often sits below a single UK arch.

Prices vary with the implant brand, the crown material and whether you need any extra work like a bone graft, so a quote is the only firm figure.

At UK Smiles the cost sits inside one all-inclusive implant package covering the implants, the bridge, your hotel and your transfers. The saving comes from lower running costs in Turkey and the exchange rate, not cheaper implants, with brands like MegaGen fitted just as they are in the UK.

There is nothing to pay up front when you book: you pay at the clinic once you are there.

What happens on the day

Surgery day, hour by hour

This is the first trip, when the implants go in. The second trip, three to six months later, is the one where your fixed teeth are fitted, and it is a much gentler week.

  1. Before you start

Scan, plan, and the sedation question

The 3D scan from your consultation is checked against your mouth and the plan is confirmed. Local anaesthetic is standard. If you are anxious, the clinic can arrange sedation for suitable patients: you are deeply relaxed and most people remember very little, but you keep breathing for yourself and there is no general anaesthetic.

How it feels A conversation. You can still change your mind about sedation at this point.

  2. 0 to 20 min

    Numbing

Numbing gel on the gum, then local anaesthetic. The dentist waits until the area is completely numb before starting, and tops it up during the procedure if you feel anything.

How it feels A scratch, then nothing. If you have chosen sedation, this is roughly where your memory of the day goes hazy.

  3. Then

    Any remaining teeth come out

If you still have failing teeth in the arch, they are removed first so the implants can go into clean bone. This is often the part people dread most and it is over quickly.

How it feels Pressure and a pulling sensation, not pain. It is usually done in minutes.

  4. 1 to 3 hrs

    Placing the implants

Four (or six) small holes are made in the jawbone and the MegaGen implants are screwed into place, the back ones angled for extra grip. The gum is closed with a few stitches.

How it feels Pressure, vibration and some pushing. No sharp pain. Most people say it was less than they expected.

  5. Same trip

    Temporary fixed teeth

A temporary bridge is made and fitted to the implants so you do not leave without teeth. It is lighter than the final zirconia bridge and you eat soft food on it while the bone heals around the implants.

How it feels Strange for a day or two, then normal. You fly home with a full smile.

  6. That evening

    Back at the hotel

The numbness wears off over two to four hours. The clinic gives you aftercare instructions for pain relief, cold packs, soft food and not smoking. Swelling and bruising are normal and usually peak on day two or three, then fade. Do not spit, rinse hard or use a straw for the first day.

How it feels Sore and swollen rather than in pain, like the day after a tooth out. Follow the aftercare instructions and rest.

  7. Days 2 to 5

    Checks, then rest

The clinic checks the site and makes any adjustments needed. The rest of the week is yours, gently.

How it feels Improving daily. Keep the food soft and let it heal.

  8. 3 to 6 months later

    Trip two: your finished teeth

The bone has grown around the implants. Over five nights the final zirconia bridge is designed, tried in and fitted. No surgery, no stitches.

How it feels The easy trip. Trial fit, final fit and a holiday.

Timings are typical for a straightforward case. If bone grafting is needed the healing time is longer, and the dentist tells you that from your scan, before you book.

    Day off

Soft food, rest and the hotel pool. Swelling is normal and settles over a few days.

  5. Day 5

    Faultless service

My first of two trips to Antalya with UK Smiles for 6 on 6 full implants took place in January 2026 and was very successful. The work was carried out at Land of Smile, a beautiful, ultra-modern clinic run by extremely skilled and professional dentists. I return in July for the fitting of my permanent teeth and would genuinely recommend UK Smiles to anyone thinking of dental work.

What an amazing experience. After weeks of research I chose UK Smiles: communication was excellent and the price was affordable, over a third cheaper than the UK, and these guys are professionals, they do it all day every day. From landing to appointments and departure, chauffeur driven. First arrival at the clinic, wow, absolutely spotless, the staff polite and courteous, and the surgery was painless. I had two bridges fitted, back teeth removed and 8 implants fitted. I have to wait 4 months for my gums to heal, then I will be returning for the back teeth to be fitted. Been home for a week and there are no problems. Look no further, get it booked.

    10/10 experience

Had a full set of crowns done with 3 implants by UK Smiles. From start to finish they were absolutely amazing. I have got a serious phobia of the dentist and they made me feel relaxed and comfortable. Transfers and pick-ups were always on time and the hotel they put me in was lovely. If you’re thinking of getting your teeth done, UK Smiles is the company to go with.

The Full Guide to All-on-6 in Turkey

What’s the Difference Between All-on-6 and All-on-4

What’s the Difference Between All-on-6 and All-on-4?

The difference between All-on-6 and All-on-4 dental implants is the number of implants: six versus four. All-on-6 spreads bite force across more points and needs a bit more jawbone, while All-on-4 uses fewer implants and often suits people with less bone. We compare the two in detail, with the research, in our guide to choosing between All-on-4 and All-on-6 in Turkey.

Neither is simply better. All-on-4 is the lighter option, it needs less bone and often avoids a graft. All-on-6 asks for a little more bone, but the two extra implants share the load and can mean less wear on the bridge over time.

Which one fits you comes down to how much healthy bone you have and how strong your bite is. A scan and X-rays settle it before any treatment is booked.

Why Do People Come to Turkey for All-on-6

Why Do People Come to Turkey for All-on-6?

People come to Turkey for All-on-6 because a full set of fixed teeth costs far less than in the UK, with no drop in implant quality. UK Smiles fits the same premium implant brands as British clinics, with UK consultations and aftercare around the trip.

The price is the draw, but it isn’t the whole picture. At UK Smiles the surgery is done at an accredited Antalya dental centre. It is licensed as an oral and dental health centre, the largest category of private dental facility in Turkey: under the Ministry of Health regulation a centre must have at least five dentists and five dental chairs, against two for a polyclinic. It is also authorised to treat international patients and listed on the official HealthTürkiye platform.

It begins at home. A free UK consultation in Leeds takes the X-rays and builds your plan, so you know All-on-6 is the right call before you book any flights.

After that it’s two short trips, with the hotel and transfers arranged for you, then UK-based aftercare once you’re back.

How the Healing Works

Why two trips

Healing explained: what happens between your visits

An implant is only as good as the bone holding it, and bone takes months to grow, not days. That is why the work is split across two short trips with healing in between.

  1. Day 1

    Implant placed

The implants are placed in the jaw in one visit, and a temporary fixed set of teeth is fitted so you go home smiling. The bone has not gripped the implants yet, so you eat soft for a while.

  2. Month 3

    Bone grows around it

This is the part you cannot rush. New bone grows into the threads of the implant and locks it in place, a process called osseointegration. It happens quietly while you get on with life at home.

  3. Month 3 to 6

    Final bridge fitted

Back in Antalya: the implants are checked, impressions taken, and your permanent zirconia bridge is designed, tried in and fixed. The temporaries come out and the final teeth go on.

Healing time varies with your bone and your health, which is why the exact gap between trips comes from your CT scan and the surgeon, not a brochure. Smoking slows it down noticeably.

How Successful Is All-on-6

How Successful Is All-on-6?

A 2024 systematic review and meta-analysis compared fixed upper-jaw bridges on four implants with bridges on six:

98.5%

implant survival with All-on-4

97%

implant survival with All-on-6

99%+

of bridges survived with either

The authors found no significant difference in implant or bridge survival between the two. There was slightly more bone loss around the implants in the four-implant group, around 1 mm against 0.5 mm, which is one reason a dentist may lean towards six when your bone allows. Our guide to All-on-4 vs All-on-6 in Turkey covers this in more detail.

DownsideWhat it meansHow it is handled
Remaining teeth are removedAny teeth left in that jaw usually come out, and that cannot be undone.Your scan and X-rays are reviewed first, and the dentist explains which teeth could be kept and why.
Six implants carry a whole archIf one implant has a problem, the bridge may need adjusting or another implant adding. Six implants share the load, which gives more back-up if one ever has a problem.Implants are checked before the final bridge is fitted, and covered by a 20-year warranty once fused.
Two trips and months of healingThree to six months on a temporary bridge, eating soft food, between trips. The fixed temporary bridge is included, so you are never without teeth.
Cleaning takes more effortThe bridge stays in, so food can collect underneath it.You are shown how to clean under it with a water flosser and interdental brushes, and your dentist checks it at home.
A few weeks to adjustSpeech and the feel of the new teeth can take a little getting used to.Most people settle within a few weeks. The bite is checked and adjusted at the final fitting.
The bridge will not last foreverImplants can often last a lifetime, but the bridge on top typically lasts around 15 years before it needs replacing.Zirconia resists wear and staining better than acrylic, and the teeth carry a 5-year warranty.

How to Choose the Best Dentist in Turkey for All-on-6

How to Choose the Best Dentist in Turkey for All-on-6

There is no single best dentist, and any website naming itself the best is selling. What matters is whether the person planning and placing your implants does full-arch work routinely, and whether the clinic around them is set up to support you for years. Ask every clinic these questions:

  • Who will place my implants, and how many full-arch cases do they do each month?
  • Will I have a 3D scan, and will you show me the plan before I book?
  • Can I see before and after photos of that dentist's own full-arch patients?
  • Which implant brand, and will I get an implant passport with the serial numbers?
  • Are the final teeth zirconia or acrylic, and how many teeth per jaw?
  • Is the clinic licensed and listed on the official HealthTürkiye platform?
  • What does the written warranty cover, and who do I see in the UK if something goes wrong?

Our answers to the money questions are in the quote comparison table above. For the rest, ask us on your free consultation, and we will answer each one in writing. Our guide to whether dental implants in Turkey are safe goes further.

Straight talk

Reasons All-on-4 or All-on-6 might not be right for you

Implants have a very high success rate when the person and the mouth are right for them. These are the things that change the plan, or rule it out, and what the clinic does about each one.

  • Not enough bone

An implant needs bone to hold it. Teeth that have been missing for years, and gum disease, both shrink the jawbone.

What we do The 3D scan shows how much bone there is. The dentist explains the options, and any extra healing time, before you book.

  • Gum disease that is not under control

Active gum disease is the biggest cause of implants failing. It has to be treated and stable first.

What we do The dentist assesses your gums first and explains what needs to be stable before implants can be placed.

  • Heavy smoking

Smoking roughly doubles the chance of an implant failing to bond with the bone, and slows healing.

What we do Tell us if you smoke. The dentist explains the added risk and what would help, so you can decide with the facts.

  • Uncontrolled diabetes, or certain medicines

Poorly controlled diabetes, bisphosphonate medicines for bone, some blood thinners and recent radiotherapy to the jaw all affect healing.

What we do Give us your full medical history and medication list. The dentist reviews it and tells you whether implants are suitable.

  • You cannot make two trips

Implants need months of healing before teeth can be fixed to them. There is no honest way to do it in one visit.

What we do We explain the two-trip plan up front, so you can decide whether it works for you before booking.

  • You are under 18

The jaw is still growing. An implant placed now would end up in the wrong position.

What we do Implant treatment is for adults. We are happy to talk it through when the time is right.

Your X-ray or CT scan tells the dental team most of this before you book, so nothing here should be a surprise on the day.

FAQs About All-on-6

  • How much does All-on-6 cost in Turkey?

With UK Smiles All-on-6 is from around £3,400 per jaw, or £6,800 for both jaws as a package with your hotel, VIP transfers, X-rays and medication included across both trips. The same treatment typically costs £10,000 to £18,000 per jaw privately in the UK.

  • Why are some All-on-6 quotes in Turkey cheaper?

Headline prices often leave things out. Check whether the price is per jaw or for both, whether the final teeth are zirconia or acrylic, whether temporary teeth, the second trip, hotel and X-rays are included, which implant brand is used, and what the written warranty covers.

  • How many trips do I need?

Two. On the first trip the implants are placed and a fixed temporary bridge is fitted. After three to six months of healing at home, you come back for your final zirconia teeth. The second trip is usually about five nights, with no major surgery.

  • Will I have teeth between the two trips?

Yes. A fixed temporary bridge is fitted on the first trip, so you fly home with a full set of teeth. You eat soft food on it while the implants heal.

  • What are the downsides of All-on-6?

Any remaining teeth in the jaw are usually removed, you need two trips with three to six months on a temporary bridge, cleaning under a fixed bridge takes more effort, and the bridge typically needs replacing after around 15 years. The implants themselves can often last a lifetime with good care.

  • Is All-on-6 in Turkey worth it?

For most people replacing a full set of teeth, yes. With UK Smiles All-on-6 is £6,800 for both jaws, against typically £20,000 to £36,000 privately in the UK, a saving of around £13,200 to £29,200 before flights. You need two trips, three to six months apart.

  • Who is the best dentist in Turkey for All-on-6?

There is no single best dentist. Look for someone who does full-arch implants routinely, plans from a 3D scan, uses a named implant brand with an implant passport, fits zirconia rather than acrylic teeth, and works at a licensed clinic listed on HealthTürkiye, with a written warranty and support in the UK.

  • Does All-on-6 hurt?

The surgery is done under local anaesthetic, and sedation is available for anxious patients at around £200 an hour. Expect swelling, bruising and soreness for a few days afterwards, usually at its worst on day two or three.

  • How long does All-on-6 last?

In a 2024 review of studies on upper-jaw full arches, 98.5% of implants survived with All-on-4 and 97% with All-on-6, and over 99% of the bridges survived. With good care, implants can often last a lifetime, and the bridge on top typically lasts around 15 years before it needs replacing (Cleveland Clinic). The implants carry a 20-year written warranty once they have fused with the bone, and the teeth on top 5 years.

  • Should I choose All-on-4 or All-on-6?

It depends mainly on your bone. All-on-4 uses angled back implants to work with less bone and often avoids a graft. All-on-6 needs a little more bone but spreads the load across more implants. Studies show similar survival for both; your scan decides which suits you.

  • What if I do not have enough bone?

Your 3D scan shows this before you book. Bone grafting (around £130 per cc) or a sinus lift (around £120 to £140) can build up the bone first, which can add healing time. You will know any extra cost before you travel.

  • What are the final teeth made of?

Zirconia, 12 teeth per jaw on a fixed bridge. It is strong, does not stain like acrylic and is shaded to suit you.

  • Can I have All-on-6 if I smoke or have diabetes?

Often, but both raise the risk of an implant not bonding. Stopping smoking around the surgery helps, and well-controlled diabetes is usually fine. Give us your full medical history and the dentist will tell you honestly whether it is suitable.

  • What is the difference between All-on-6 and dentures?

All-on-6 teeth are fixed to implants and stay in, so they do not slip, cover the roof of your mouth or need adhesive. Dentures sit on the gum, are taken out at night and usually need relining or replacing every few years.
