Naomi’s story

Naomi’s upper teeth had worn down over the years and lost their shape, leaving a smile that looked older than she is and a shade that had crept away from where she wanted it. Whitening alone would not have touched it: the problem was the shape and length of the teeth as much as the colour.

She had a full set of zirconium crowns in a natural design, shade BL2. Each tooth was rebuilt to a proper length and proportion, which is what gives the smile its width and evenness, and zirconium takes the day-to-day wear that had ground the old teeth down.

The shade is bright without tipping into the flat, blocky look. The edges keep a bit of translucency, the way real teeth do.

Why it suited Naomi: Naomi wanted a shade that clearly looked whitened but did not tip into the blocky, flat look. BL2 is bright with a little warmth, which keeps it believable in daylight and in photographs.

Centrals a touch longer than the laterals, softly rounded corners, canines with a gentle point and a smile line that curves with your lip. Small differences between teeth are kept on purpose: that is what reads as real.
Soft

Rounded, gentle, friendly

Fuller, more oval teeth with rounded edges all the way along and no sharp corners anywhere. The smile line curves gently and the canines are softened rather than pointed. Warm rather than striking.
Hollywood

Square, straight, bold

Squarer teeth with straight edges, all the same length, sitting in a flat, even line. Corners are crisp and the canines are squared off to match. Symmetrical and unmistakably done, for people who want the change to show.

Each tooth is shaped with the small variations real teeth have: slightly rounded corners, a soft curve along the smile line and a little translucency at the biting edges. The result looks like a great version of your own teeth rather than a row of identical white blocks.

Why it suited Naomi: Years of wear had taken the length and shape from her teeth, so the design rebuilt each one to a proper proportion. The natural design keeps a hint of translucency at the edges, the way real teeth have, so the result looks like teeth rather than a set of tiles.
