How to Choose a Reputable Dental Clinic in Turkey
A reputable dental clinic in Turkey is licensed by the Ministry of Health and authorised to treat overseas patients, tells you which dentist will treat you, puts your plan, price and guarantee in writing, and has a clear answer for what happens once you are back in the UK.
Below is the 12-point checklist we would use if we were choosing for our own family, how to check each point in a few minutes, and the red flags that mean you should walk away. We have applied it to ourselves at the end, so you can hold us to it too.
Quick answer · Updated
To choose a reputable dental clinic in Turkey, check the clinic's Ministry of Health licence and health tourism authorisation, get the name of your dentist before you fly, insist on a consultation and a written tooth-by-tooth quote with a written guarantee, verify reviews on independent platforms, and make sure someone in the UK can help once you are home.
- Clinic
- Ministry of Health licence and health tourism authorisation
- Dentist
- Named before you fly, registered with the dental chamber
- Plan
- A consultation first, then a written quote, tooth by tooth
- Guarantee
- In writing: how long, what it covers, who arranges repairs
- Reviews
- Independent platforms, real names, a spread of dates
- Aftercare
- A UK contact and a plan if something needs checking
The 12-Point Checklist
Most of the horror stories you have seen started with a clinic chosen on price and before-and-after photos alone. Neither tells you whether the clinic is licensed, who the dentist is, or what happens when you get home.
These twelve checks do. They fall into four groups, and each one takes a few minutes and a direct question.
-
The clinic
-
Ministry of Health licence
Ask to see it, and match the legal name to your quote.
-
Health tourism authorisation
Ask for the certificate. It is required to treat overseas patients.
-
On-site lab and 3D scanner
Ask where your teeth are made and how scans are taken.
-
-
The dentists
-
A named dentist before you fly
You should know who is treating you, not find out in the chair.
-
Registered with the dental chamber
Ask for their registration and search the name independently.
-
The right specialist for your case
Implants and full-mouth work need a surgeon, not only a cosmetic dentist.
-
-
The plan and price
-
A proper consultation first
Photos for simple cases, an X-ray or scan for implants.
-
A written quote, tooth by tooth
Material, lab, hotel nights, transfers and extras all listed.
-
A guarantee in writing
How long, what it covers, and who arranges repairs.
-
-
After you are home
-
Reviews you can verify
Independent platforms, real names, a spread of dates.
-
A UK contact and address
Someone you can reach, and a place you can visit.
-
A plan for problems
What happens if something needs checking back in the UK.
-
Before any of that, though, there is a more basic question.
Who Are You Actually Booking With?
Many of the names you see advertising Turkey teeth to UK patients are not clinics. Some are marketing brands that pass you to whichever clinic they work with. Others are UK companies, like us, that arrange your treatment at a specific clinic and look after you around it.
None of these is wrong in itself. What matters is that you know which one you are dealing with, and who is responsible for what.
You
Photos, questions, consultation
UK Smiles, Leeds
Plan, price, travel, UK contact, aftercare
Dental Centre, Antalya
Licensed clinic, named dentists, on-site lab
Whoever you are talking to, ask three questions: which clinic will treat me, which dentist, and who do I contact if something goes wrong once I am home? If any of the answers are vague, keep looking.
Check the Clinic Itself
Every dental clinic in Turkey needs a Ministry of Health operating licence. Any clinic treating overseas patients also needs the international health tourism authorisation, which since April 2025 requires foreign-language support, registration on the state’s HealthTürkiye portal and complication insurance for surgical procedures.
Ask to see both, and check the legal name on them matches the name on your quote. Our guide to Turkish dental clinic accreditation explains every licence and badge, and how to verify each one yourself.
Then look at what kind of clinic it is. Most dental practices in Turkey hold the standard polyclinic licence. A smaller number are certified Dental Centres, which must meet stricter requirements.
| Certified Dental Centre | Standard polyclinic | |
|---|---|---|
| Licence | Government-certified and regularly audited | Basic operating licence |
| Dentists | Several full-time specialists | Often general dentists only |
| Lab | On site | Usually outsourced |
| Scanning | 3D CBCT and digital design in house | Varies, often outsourced |
| Treatments | Full range, including implants and All-on-4 or All-on-6 | Often cosmetic only |
Check the Dentists
The building is licensed separately from the people working in it. A practising dentist in Turkey holds a recognised dental degree and registers with the regional dental chamber under the Turkish Dental Association.
You should know the name of your dentist before you fly. With a name, you can check where they qualified, how long they have practised and what they specialise in. Without one, you are trusting a logo.
Match the dentist to the treatment, too. Veneers and crowns are cosmetic and restorative work. Implants, bone grafts and All-on-4 or All-on-6 are surgery, and should be done or led by a dentist with surgical training. You can read about every dentist who treats UK Smiles patients, including our oral and maxillofacial surgeon, on our meet the team page.
Then there is what other patients say.
Check the Reviews
Reviews are the first thing most people look at, and the easiest thing to fake. A wall of five-star reviews posted in the same week, by profiles with one review each, should worry you more than an honest four.
- Look on independent platforms, such as Trustpilot and Google, not only the clinic’s own website.
- Check the dates. Real reviews arrive steadily over months and years.
- Read the three-star ones. How a clinic replies to criticism tells you how it handles problems.
- Look for patients on camera, months after treatment, not only on the day they fly home.
Our guide on how to spot fake dental clinic reviews shows how to check a reviewer’s profile in two minutes.
Check the Quote and the Guarantee
A reputable clinic does not give you a price until someone has looked at your teeth. For veneers or crowns on healthy teeth, photos are often enough. For implants or missing teeth, you need an X-ray or 3D scan first. Our guide on which consultation you need before you fly explains the difference.
The quote that follows should list every tooth and what it is getting, the material, where it is made, the hotel nights and transfers, and what happens if something changes on the day. If two quotes are hundreds of pounds apart, the cheaper one has usually left something out. Our guide to what a Turkey teeth quote should include takes you through it line by line.
Finally, the guarantee. Get it in writing before you pay: how long it lasts, what it covers, and who arranges a repair if you are back in the UK.
One more tip: paying at least part of the cost on a UK credit card can add protection. For items between £100 and £30,000, Section 75 of the Consumer Credit Act can make the card company jointly responsible if something goes wrong. Check with your card provider how it applies to you.

Check What Happens Once You Are Home
This is the question most people forget to ask, and the one UK dentists worry about most.
93%
of UK dentists surveyed by the British Dental Association were concerned about continuity of care for patients treated abroad.
Before you book, ask: who do I contact if a crown feels wrong in six months? Do I have to fly back for every check? Can you arrange an X-ray in the UK? Will a UK dentist be able to work on what you fit?
With UK Smiles, you contact the same team you dealt with before your trip. We pass your photos and videos to the dentists, arrange X-rays in the UK where needed, and tell you plainly what happens next. Our UK aftercare page shows exactly how it works.
Red Flags to Walk Away From
If you see any of these, slow down. If you see two, walk away.
-
A full set in two or three days
Rushing preparation, fitting and adjustment into one long weekend leaves no time for a trial fit.
-
No consultation, just a price
A number before anyone has looked at your teeth is a sales price, not a treatment plan.
-
"Veneers" that are really crowns
If the plan does not say which teeth are filed down and by how much, ask before you pay.
-
Pressure to pay a deposit now
Limited-time discounts and countdowns are about the sale, not your teeth.
-
No named dentist
If nobody can tell you who is treating you, you cannot check them.
-
No answer on aftercare
"Just come back to Turkey" is not an aftercare plan.
Our guide to the red flags behind the worst Turkey teeth goes into each one in more depth.

Frequently Asked Questions
-
How do I know if a dental clinic in Turkey is reputable?
Check four things: the clinic holds a Ministry of Health licence and the health tourism authorisation, you know the name of your dentist before you fly, the quote and guarantee are in writing, and someone in the UK will help if something needs checking once you are home. A reputable clinic answers all of these without fuss.
-
What is the difference between a Dental Centre and a polyclinic in Turkey?
A polyclinic is the standard licence most Turkish dental practices hold. A Dental Centre has to meet stricter Ministry of Health requirements for specialists, facilities, sterilisation and equipment, and is audited to keep that status. Treatment for UK Smiles patients takes place at a certified Dental Centre in Antalya.
-
Should I book with a clinic directly or through a UK company?
Either can work. Booking direct can suit you if you are confident checking the clinic yourself. A UK company adds a UK contact, someone to chase things in English, and help once you are home. Whoever you book with, ask who is legally responsible for your treatment and who handles problems after your trip.
-
Is the cheapest dental clinic in Turkey a bad idea?
Not always, but a much lower price usually means something has been left out: fewer hotel nights, an outside lab, extra treatment charged on the day, or no aftercare. Compare quotes line by line, not by the total at the bottom.
-
How can I check a Turkish dentist’s qualifications?
Ask for your named dentist, where they qualified and their registration with the regional dental chamber under the Turkish Dental Association. Then search their name independently. A good clinic will send these details without hesitation.
-
Do Turkish dentists speak English?
Many dentists who treat international patients do, and clinics authorised for health tourism must offer foreign-language support. With UK Smiles you also have English-speaking patient coordinators with you before, during and after your trip.
-
What should I do if a clinic will not answer my questions?
Walk away. Clinics with nothing to hide send licences, dentist names and written quotes within a day, because they are asked for them every week. If the answer is a discount instead of a document, that tells you what you need to know.
The best way to test us against this checklist is to ask. Answer a few quick questions and the team will come back with your plan, your dentist and your price, all in writing, and answer anything on this list you want to check.
